Tova

Privacy Policy

Last updated: [date of launch]

The short version. Tova keeps your notes, voice recordings and mood entries on your own phone. We do not have an account system, we do not run a server that stores your entries, and we do not sell anything about you to anybody.

What Tova is

Tova is a mental health app for adults with ADHD, dyslexia and anxiety. It helps you keep notes, remember what matters, read more easily, and keep an eye on your mood and your sleep.

Who we are

Tova is made by Aaron Leung, trading as Tova, in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom.

For anything to do with privacy, write to [email protected].

What Tova stores, and where

Everything you put into Tova stays on your device. That includes:

This data is held in the app's private storage on your phone. It is not sent to us, and we cannot see it.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Under UK data protection law our basis is performance of a contract: you have asked us to provide the app, and that is why the app keeps your entries. Where you choose to record health information — mood, sleep, medication — that is special category data, and we rely on your explicit consent, given when you enter it. You can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting the entry.

What we do not do

Permissions the app asks for, and why

You can refuse any of these and still use the rest of the app.

Third parties

If you install Tova from Google Play, Google collects install and crash information under its own privacy policy. That is Google's data, not ours, and we do not receive your personal entries from it.

Beyond that, Tova does not send your content to any third party.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your entries stay for as long as you keep them. You can delete any entry inside the app, and uninstalling Tova removes everything it stored — because it only ever existed on your phone.

We cannot delete data for you, because we never had it.

Children

Tova is intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Health information

Tova lets you record mood, sleep and medication. That is your own record, kept for you. Tova is not a medical device, does not diagnose anything, and does not give medical advice. If you are in crisis, contact your GP or emergency services.

Changes to this policy

If Tova changes — for example if we add accounts or a syncing service — this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change. If a change affects what leaves your device, we will say so plainly in the app first.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct and erase your personal data, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Because we do not hold your data, most of these are things you do yourself in the app — but write to us if you want help.
